Kurt Fischer, an aircraft engineer, founded the Fischer factory in Drebach, in Germany's Ore Mountains, in October 1945. The company built its reputation on the barometer first, then extended the same hand-assembly standard to thermometers as demand for paired instruments grew.
The company stayed in Drebach through decades of change, including a period of state ownership, before returning fully to Fischer family hands in 1990. Whether you're looking at a multi-dial weather station or a matched instrument set, every reading is still built and calibrated in-house.
